Gardeners in the EarthCarers Community Garden are harvesting their
first spring / summer crops and relishing the flavour of fresh,
home-grown vegetables.
This term we’ll begin to further develop the communal areas
including planting a range of herbs and indigenous food plants.
Join us as we look back at all we’ve done to transform
our bare patch of land into the thriving garden all the community
can now enjoy. The day will include a range of displays, children’s
activities and a shared lunch.
Other gardening activities planned for the term include:
• A seed-saving workshop
• Cooking classes for surplus crops of vegetables
• Visits to gardens
• Networking and workshops with other community gardens
This term we’ll investigate options for installing solar
power to homes. A solar retailer will explain the options available
for home solar power as well as bulk buying schemes. If there’s
enough interest we may set up a bulk buy scheme for people
from the Chelsea Heights and surrounding community. |
